Questions
The things people ask us most often, answered straight.
How do I get an estimate?
Call (334) 343-2542, email alabama.fence.rail@gmail.com, message the Facebook page, or send the form on the contact page. We come out, walk the line with you and price the run as measured.
What areas do you cover?
Birmingham, Alabaster, Pelham, Calera, Columbiana, Leeds, Pell City, Auburn, Opelika and Dadeville, plus the surrounding areas. If you are near any of those, ask — we travel for the right job.
What kinds of fence do you install?
Wood privacy and picket, vinyl, aluminum and ornamental steel, chain link in galvanized and black vinyl-coated, farm and ranch fencing, commercial and industrial perimeter fencing, school and sports fencing, site and erosion-control fencing, and gates for all of them.
Do you do commercial work as well as residential?
Yes. Alongside back-yard fencing we do storage facility perimeters, warehouse and contractor yards, school and sports grounds, and site fencing for builders and developers. The work section has examples of each.
Can you fence a slope or uneven ground?
Yes — that is most of Alabama. Runs are either stepped, where each panel sits level and the fence descends in steps, or racked, where the panel follows the slope. Which one we use depends on the material and how much gap under the fence you can live with.
Do you build gates too?
Every fence we set gets gates to match it — walk gates, double drive gates, farm gates and cantilever slide gates on commercial entries. Gate posts get sized for the gate they carry, which is the difference between a gate that still swings straight in five years and one that does not.
Will you take away the old fence?
Tell us when you call and we will include removal and haul-away in the number. It is easier to price that up front than to discover it on the day.
How long does a fence take?
It depends on the length, the ground and the material. We will give you a realistic window when we measure — and we would rather tell you two weeks and mean it than tell you three days and not.
Do I need to know exactly where my property line is?
It helps a great deal. If you have a survey or plat, have it out when we walk the line. If corners are unclear, that is worth sorting before we set posts rather than after.
Do you handle HOA or permit paperwork?
Bring us whatever your HOA or city requires and we will work to it — height limits, which side the finished face goes, setback from the line. Talk to us about it before we order material.
